Best Workouts To Do With Your Significant Other

With Valentine’s Day coming up this week, I thought it would be the perfect time to share the best ways to work out with your significant other. Here are some of the types of exercises that my fiancé and I enjoy doing together. If you’re still searching for a Valentine’s gift idea, consider buying a class to do together!

Spin

Going to spin class together was the first type of exercise class that we really started doing together and it remains one of our favorites. We both love music so spin class is a great opportunity for us to get lost in the music and burn a ton of calories doing so. If you’re looking for killer music and a club-like experience, try taking a SoulCycle or Zengo class together. If you guys like a little friendly competition in your relationship, check out a Flywheel or Cyclebar class and compare your stats afterwards. (Loser buys post-spin smoothies.)

p.s. If you’re looking to have date night on a budget, Zengo and Cyclebar offer your first class free. Flywheel is also doing the same offer but for a limited time only!

Run

We run for the views… and towards food.

We run for the views… and towards food.

We both got back into running this summer and going for runs together was a great way for both of us to motivate ourselves to keep going. Whether you’re training for a 5K together or just running for fun, you can use apps like the free Couch 2 5K app to pace your run. We’ve done that quite a bit together so we can run at a fairly similar pace for a few minutes and then chat during the walking rest periods.

Running can be something to easily turn in to a date as you can always run to something cool. Whether that be the monuments or just sweetgreen (our go to), running is definitely more fun when you have a destination in mind. Plus, you can walk back after your run and use that as a great time to catch up with each other.

Circuit Training

Circuit or high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a great workout to do with your partner because it allows you both to workout at your own skill levels. Depending on the studio you pick, you also have the opportunity to be paired up throughout the workout so that you’re pushing through challenging workouts together.

For date night on a budget, check out Next Phase Studio in Arlington or Bethesda or any local Orangetheory studio for your first class free!

Hiking and Biking

While February isn’t the ideal time to try these activities if you’re in DC, hiking and biking are other great things to do together. So, if you’re planning a getaway this winter, see if you can fit that in to your schedule. We like to choose hotels or Airbnbs that offer complimentary bikes so it’s a no-brainer to use those as our way to not only see a new city but also get in a little bit of exercise while doing so!

How do you and your partner like to exercise together (besides THAT ;) )?
